The flooring, interiors and even the social media world (well, a small part of it at least) have been whipped into quite a frenzy over Mckay Flooring's new Whiskey Barrel wood flooring product.
The company has perfected a way to make flooring wood planks from round oak whiskey barrels, and, because of the hype their announcement created, has already laid the new flooring product in a Glasgow house.
This is reclaimed wood flooring in its truest form; wood that has served its original purpose, but can be reclaimed, recycled and reused as a new product. But it is better than that, because, in this case the recycled use of the wood is far better than its original use.
Old oak whiskey Barrels are great for storing whiskey, but lets face it they are pretty drab and boring. But as a quirky, retro wood floor with the whiskey branding still intact they are an absolutely unique idea, and something that most Scottish whiskey drinkers would probably love to have adorning their floors.
